U S Army, Korea, 1SG Jerrold Weston Warner - Fillmore, UT
About the Mission:
1SG Jerrold "Jerry" Weston Warner, served in the Utah Army National Guard, from May 1948 until April 1952.
He transferred to the Cedar City unit of the National Guard since his brother was in the Fillmore unit
and both wanted to fight together in the Korean conflict.
1SG Warner was a member of the 213th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, which was
activated federally in August 1950, to fight in Korea. This battalion was made famous for the
"Miracle of Gapyeong" where on May 26, 1951, roughly 240 men from the 213th found themselves
isolated on the front lines when an estimated 4000 Chinese and North Korean infantry
launched a surprise overnight attack.
These 240 infantrymen held off the attack, using their long range howitzers as close combat weapons,
and often in hand-to-hand combat. This battle led to hundreds of enemy casualties, and more than
800 enemy prisoners without the loss of a single life amongst the 213th. The 213th was awarded
the Distinguished Unit citation for its service in battle.
This unit continued to serve in Korea until its federal release in October 1954.

Instructions:
This will be a veteran's format.
Service: 1:00 PM, at the LDS Church, located at 25 S 300 West, Fillmore.
Flag line: at the church. Then escort KSU: 1:30 PM, to his final resting place
in the Fillmore Cemetery, 325 E 600 South, Fillmore, where we will stand another flag line.
Weather: mostly sunny, with a high of +104..

Flags will be provided.
If you have large bike flags, please bring them.
Water will not be provided, please bring your own.
